ABSTRACT
In this paper, a failure evaluation criterion was proposed for the bolted casing-flange structure under impact loading. Subsequently, ballistic tests with eighteen specimens were conducted to validate criterion. Parameter studies then carried out using validated FE models. Both experimental and numerical results demonstrated accuracy of The provided quick easy way determine mode casing connection area by materials dimensions structure. Based on criterion, designing structural be between flange bolt can improve resistance aero-engine casings. This investigation revealed that is not unique in evaluating containment area, should also involved criteria.
