Assessment of the patients’ outcomes after implementation of South African triage scale in emergency department, Egypt

ABSTRACT
Overcrowding in emergency department (ED) is a concerning global problem and has been identified as national crisis some countries. Several sorting systems designed successfully the world. Launched 2004, group of branches South African triage scale (SATS) developed. The effectiveness case system SATS was evaluated to reduce patient's length stay (LOS) mortality rate within ED at Suez Canal University Hospital.The study an intervention that included systematic random sample patients who presented Hospital. This implemented three phases: pre-intervention phase, 115 were assessed by traditional protocols; structured training program provided staff, including workshop lectures; post-intervention 230 SATS. All retriaged 2 h later, calculating LOS per patient mortality. Data collected entered using Microsoft Excel software. Collected data from sheet analyzed SPSS software version 22.0.The about 183.78 min before intervention; while after application SATS, it reduced 51.39 min. About 15.7% died however, ratio decreased 10.7% deaths.SATS better assessing without missing important data. Additionally, resulted decrease reduction compared protocol.
