ABSTRACT
From the devastating effects of 1877–1879 Great Drought in Northeast region to creation Center for Weather Forecast and Climate Studies (CPTEC) at National Institute Space Research (INPE) early 1990 s, Brazil went from a total absence meteorological expertise becoming member select group nations with infrastructure technical build run global general circulation model. This article reviews most critical moments development climate services Brazil, addressing evolution its observation, monitoring, modeling, prediction, still incipient efforts systematically understanding users' perspectives needs, work required incorporate usable science co-production paradigms into main centers production information. Advances challenges are analyzed, actions strengthening framework proposed.
