ABSTRACT
Abstract The comparative analysis of evolution of electrochemical parameters and wettability for two types of superhydrophobic coatings (SHCs) at prolonged contact with 3 M potassium halide solutions revealed various aspects of a complex corrosion protection provided by SHCs on aluminum alloy. The difference in the pitting processes of Al alloy with SHCs in concentrated potassium halide solutions becomes essential after prolonged contact with the electrolyte. Long-term contact of SHCs of both types with halide solutions shows that the corrosion currents and the rate of hydrolysis of hydrophobic molecules follow the Hofmeister series I − − − .
