ABSTRACT
Abstract Oxidation behavior of the nanocrystalline coating with low content of Ta on the N5 single-crystal superalloy is investigated at 1050 and 1150 °C. Results indicate that when the content of Ta in the nanocrystalline coating is reduced to 3 wt%, no γ′-Ni3(Al, Ta) will not be precipitated during oxidation. Then the activity of Ta is low, it will not be oxidized, which can be stable in the coating after oxidation. Therefore, the oxidation resistance of the nanocrystalline coating with low content of Ta in significantly improved.
