ABSTRACT
Abstract The BiOCl: Eu3+ phosphors were synthesized, utilizing a solid-state reaction method. The crystal structure and morphology of the Eu3+-doped BiOCl were elucidated. The Eu3+-activated BiOCl phosphors showed broad adsorption in the near-ultraviolet region, which emitted intense red emission with the color purity of 71.8%. The quantum yield of the Bi0.95OCl: 0.05Eu3+ phosphor was found to be 0.323. Moreover, the recorded temperature-dependent luminescence spectra indicate that the emission intensity at 150 °C could still remain 80% of that at room temperature, which also verified an excellent thermal resistance performance for the Bi0.95OCl: 0.05Eu3+ sample, which have great potential for indoor illumination.
