ABSTRACT
This review was undertaken to summarize the development, experience, and challenges of ratoon rice cultivation over 50 years in Jiangxi Province, China. As growing labor shortage last decade, ratooning technology with main crop harvested mechanically has widely spread quickly replaced traditional under manual harvesting. However, rolling damage caused by harvesting machines becomes a critical factor for yield loss season. Some key agronomic practices including variety selection, optimal planting time, nutrient water management, etc. were discussed here minimizing achieving high grain mechanical Besides, some innovative rotation systems have been attempted integrating duck farming or fragrant taro reducing weeds disease incidences improving farmers' profit. At last, this analyzed opportunities further expansion production from perspective technology, market, government policy.
