ABSTRACT
In Italy, where bicycle culture is struggling to catch on, the Extraordinary Plan for Tourism Mobility 2017–22 aims increase accessibility of tourist sites through safe and pleasant cycling routes, interconnected with other modes transport. These same objectives have been pursued by Sardinia, one Italian regions more attractive tourists, design a regional cycle network long-distance routes (Ciclovia della Sardegna). The current study focuses on tourism mobility in metropolitan city Cagliari, largest urban area explore how much existing planned constitute an alternative solution tourists who intend reach beaches. particular, evaluate level offered bicycling beaches, which are among most visited places before after implementation bike system. A GIS-based procedure was employed method comprised three main steps: (1) data collection preparation, (2) GIS analysis, (3) assessment results. We performed two types analysis using GIS. First, we delineated service areas around each beach various distances. Then, overlaid analyzed these conjunction accommodation facilities. Second, measured beaches gravity-based index. Our results demonstrate that, following zones Cagliari significantly increased their while others did not. Importantly, adopted methodology has proven be valid tool assessing different infrastructure scenarios.
