ABSTRACT
Treatment with antiseizure medications (ASMs) for more than 6 months requires monitoring of side effects, one which is a decreased level serum vitamin D. This study aimed to compare the influence therapies versus multiple ASMs on 25-hydroxy D (25-OHD) levels among children epilepsy. Our cross-sectional comparative was conducted in Paediatric Neurology Clinic at Soetomo Academic Hospital. Epileptic aged 2-18 years who had been using least were enrolled and grouped according whether they taking single or ASMs. The mean 25-OHD both groups compared Welch t-test (95% confidence interval).Among 60 enrolled, deficiency identified 13% ASM 53% ones ASMs; 26.6 (SD 5.29) ng/mL 20.2 4.25) ng/mL, respectively. There significant difference between (p = 0.001).Patients have lower expected their age, those having lowest levels.
