Transition policy and innovation policy: Friends or foes?

There is a potential for misalignment between innovation policy and transition policy. This misalignment might hamper sustainability transitions. This paper discusses the sources of the incompatibilities between innovation and transition policy and gives policy recommendations on how to increase the area of alignment. © 2011 Elsevier B.V.
