Prevalence and burden of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women: Interim analysis of the PURITY survey

ABSTRACT
Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy is a common invalidating condition early pregnancy. However, no data are available on its prevalence Italy. This survey aims to evaluate the impact of nausea during quality life Italian women.The was performed three public University Hospitals two distinct periods: first interview took place between 18th 22nd week pregnancy, using Questionnaire for Pregnancy Period (14 questions regarding demographic 30 about including Pregnancy-Unique Quantification Emesis questionnaire), follow-up interview, by telephone call, immediately after giving birth any case within 14 days delivery, Post-Pregnancy (9 questions). Twin pregnancies who recurred medically assisted procreation excluded. an interim report collected from 232 planned 600 women.Mean age recruited subjects 32.6 ± 4.6 years, approximately 60% primiparous. The sample examined 65.5% overall (152 out subjects). Of these 152 women, 63 (41.4%) experienced only nausea, 6 (3.9%) vomiting, 83 (54.6%) reported both. Symptoms begin at 7.2 2.7 weeks, lasted 10.2 5.6 persisted time 32.2% cases. Overall, over 50% interviewed negative social relationships work activity.A high overall, found this analysis.
