Simple preparation method of asphalt polyurethane foam for various insulating purposes

In this study, Asphalt PUF (asphalt polyurethane foam) was simply prepared from the point of view industry by in-situ polymerization a polyoxyalkylene polyol (caster oil) and an organic isocyanate 4,4′diphenyl methane diisocyanate (MDI) into asphalt emulsion media at different NCO/OH index starting (0.8 to 1.6). The chemical reaction is confirmed FTIR. Surface morphology scanned with SEM. Some selected physical tests were performed for insulating purposes; such as sound absorption, vibration damping, thermal conductivity, cycling water absorptivity%. results approved that foams have excellent damping properties. Furthermore, they can easily fit uneven surface because their good shape retention. Hence, it seems be suitable especially engine compartment insulator. addition, resistance properties these are important applications requiring long-term exposure water, sealant, coating membranes landfills, tanks pipes.
