ABSTRACT
Aim of the work: To evaluate value three hematological indices to determine subclinical inflammation in Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) patients during attack-free period. Patients and methods: This study included 60 FMF without FMF-related symptoms or signs preceding month 50 age sex matched healthy control. Subclinical was defined as presence elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) > 5 mg/dL and/or serum amyloid A (SAA) levels 6.4 mg/L absence any related clinical symptoms. The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte (PLR) mean platelet volume (MPV) were evaluated. Results: median 32 80% females. They 12 (80%) with 48 without. Mutations MEFV gene analyzed 43 (56.6%) homozygous 21, heterozygous compound 10. most common mutation M694V. NLR PLR significantly higher MPV lower (p = 0.002, p 0.02, 0.03, respectively) but comparable values Only those compared 0.009) whereas similar 0.45 0.22, respectively). best cut-off for predicting 2.94 (sensitivity 66.7%, specificity 94.9%;p 0.009). Conclusions: increased which may be used a marker determining early activity flare addition other markers.
