ABSTRACT
As emerging pollutants of global concern, absorbed nanoplastics might have negative impacts on plant development and nutrient uptake, thereby decreasing yields. If are transferred to the edible parts plants, they may pose a threat human health when large quantities ingested. While nanoplastic-induced phytotoxicity is attracting increasing attention, little known about how inhibit nanoplastic accumulation in plants reduce subsequent adverse effects. Here we investigated absorption polystyrene (PS-NPs) different species role brassinosteroids alleviating PS-NP toxicity. Brassinosteroids inhibited PS-NPs tomato fruit reversed PS-NP-induced promote growth increase fresh weight height. also induction aquaporin-related genes by including TIP2-1, TIP2-2, PIP2-6, PIP2-8, PIP2-9, SIP2-1, NIP1-2, providing potential stress mechanism which accumulate targets for inhibition. In transcriptomic analyses, enhanced fatty acid amino metabolism synthesis. conclusion, exogenous application 50 nM alleviated effects be an effective means minimize phytotoxicity.
