ABSTRACT
The blue economy has roots in the international arena of sustainable development and sets out to unlock opportunities for society whilst protecting enhancing marine environments. To date there been no analysis how this overarching intention sustainability influenced rapid policies at national regional scales. In article, we analyse synergies conflicts between from a diversity UN Sustainable Development Goals. We show that maintain critical alignment with targets sustainability, place-based contextual economies meet needs all actors is necessary. These relate ensuring resilience against future environmental political shocks, maintenance ecological basis thriving economies, capacity levels support effective equitable governance. Results indicate co-production will be important achieve economies.
