ABSTRACT
Engaging citizens and communities is considered a central element good practice in coastal management. However, individuals still demonstrate general disengagement with risks. To understand the factors that underlie citizens' engagement risks processes to implement evidence-based strategies aimed at enhancing public participation management, pivotal success of adaptation. Therefore, this study sought develop validate an assessment tool aiming measuring individuals' adaptation their underlying factors. A cross-sectional 2-phase research was implemented analyze psychometric properties CoastADAPT scale. The Phase 1 (N = 491) determined scale's factorial structure, through Exploratory Factor Analysis; its reliability, internal consistency test-retest reliability; construct validity, convergent divergent validity. 2 207) confirmed Confirmatory Analysis. Analyses indicated scale showed 3-factor structure consisting following domains: Experiential Processing (Affective component), Risk Awareness (Cognitive component) Environmental Justice (Social value orientation component). reliable valid measure risk processes. It may be useful facilitate development overcome management provide deeper understanding predictors
