ABSTRACT
As a natural anti‐cancer alkaloid extracted from Amaryllidaceae, lycorine shows various biological effects on tumor cells. The survival rate of HL‐60 cells exposed to was decreased in dose‐dependent manner with 1 μM as the 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50), cell growth slowed down by arresting cycle at G2/M phase, and regeneration potential inhibited. exhibited typical apoptotic morphological changes, DNA “ladder” pattern, sub‐G1 peak phase distribution, showing apoptosis To further understand molecular mechanism cells, caspase activity tested colorimetric assay, expression Bcl‐2 Bax proteins examined Western blotting. increase caspase‐8, ‐9, ‐3 activities demonstrated that key mediator pathways induced lycorine. Under‐expression Bax:Bcl‐2 ratio showed family were involved apoptosis. Our finding suggests can suppress leukemia reduce via inducing
