ABSTRACT
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is widely accepted as the standard treatment for acute cholecystitis. Emergency LC associated with significantly high morbidity and mortality rates in high-risk patients, including those who are critically ill, elderly, end-stage renal disease (ESRD) septicemia. To evaluate safety outcomes of emergency ESRD patients on maintenance hemodialysis. Between January 2006 December 2011, medical records 22 calculous cholecystitis were undergoing hemodialysis had received reviewed retrospectively. The 10 men 12 women a mean age 69.3 years. was successfully performed 20 two converted to open cholecystectomy. conversion rate 9% hospital stay 4.8 (range 3–8) days. Wound infection occurred common bile duct injury one; no other complications perioperative this study. can be safely duration stay, outcomes, surgical procedure similar general population not LC.
