ABSTRACT
BackgroundMalnutrition is a term used to refer condition of both excessive and under-nutrition. Even in the 21st c, it yet among major public health challenges that affect health, growth, development millions children across continents. Studies show malnutrition during early childhood could result devastating long-term effects such as poor school performance, weak immune system, growth development. Unfortunately, Ethiopia developing countries hard hit by problem (under-nutrition).ObjectiveTo assess magnitude stunting, wasting, underweight risk factors associated with them; Children aged between 6- 36 months.MethodsA community-based cross-sectional study design was conducted on 700 participants from April May 2020. Nutritional status 6-36 months determined based WHO reference population Z score ≤ -2 SD (HAZ, WHZ WAZ) looked upon for wasting accordingly. Data were collected through structured measuring anthropometric eligible sample unit. The questionnaire data first entered into Epi-data later analyzed following binary multiple logistic regression analysis procedures help IBM SPSS 26. Adjusted odds ratios, 95% CI association statistical significance declared at P-values 0.05 this study.ResultsIn present study, response rate respondent 100%. Factors significantly undernutrition: Mothers who have no formal education (AOR = 2.58, CI; 1.44–4.63), food insecure 1.9, 1.23–2.9) had feeding plate 1.53, 1.07–2.19).For underweighthave not individual 2.39, 1.42–4.03), dietary diversity 1.82, 1.23–2.69) insecurity 4.24, 2.68–6.71).We also identified age 6-11 6.81, 2.93–15.79), 12–23 2.28, 1.03–5.06), 10.34, 5.22–20.45) 5.58, 2.36–13.19) wasting.ConclusionThis relived six variables associate undernutrition. These are: his/her own plate, household insecurity, mother education, 6-11months 6–23 months. Based findings recommendations are made. First, strategies programs targeted towards reduction prevention undernutrition 6–36-month should be made all level improve nutritional status. Second, provide information families regarding importance separating children's plate. Three, counselling about practice mothers education.
