ABSTRACT
The emergence of pests and diseases, including the maize streak virus, leaf blight, African stem borer, gray spot, poses a persistent threat to production (Zea mays L. cv: DMR-ESR-Yellow) around world. A field experiment was conducted at School Agriculture experimental site, Njala University, Sierra Leone, during two-year period (2020-2021) assess effects green manure on pest disease incidence severity as well growth yield parameters maize. laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications four treatments: Cal. 3 t.ha-1, 6 t.h-1, Pan. Pan t.ha-1 control plot amended 200 kg ha-1 N (urea) NPK 15:15:15 split application. study showed that spot damage most severe infection among all treatments. Therefore, Leone can be minimized by applying manure. Moreover, results reveal Calopogonium- Pueraria mixture plots significant performance measured viz. highest number, large area girth, superior plant height, best ear height (64.6-78.5 cm), higher cob (1.2-1.4 t.ha-1) (1.8-2.1 dry grain (0.5-0.7 ha-1). Panicum prompt adequate application, decomposition manures, is imperative for successful conservation sustainability farming systems. findings this research could improve efficiency use pest, disease, crop management
