ABSTRACT
A life-threatening manifestation of Covid-19 infection is a cytokine storm that requires hospitalization and supplemental oxygen. Various strategies to reduce inflammatory cytokines have had some success in limiting improving survival. Agonists adenosine A2A receptors (A2AR) release from most immune cells. Apadenoson potent selective anti-inflammatory analog reduces inflammation. When administered by subcutaneous osmotic pumps mice infected with SARS CoV-2, was found improve the outcomes as measured decrease weight loss, improved clinical symptoms, reduced levels proinflammatory chemokines bronchial lavage (BAL) fluid, enhanced survival K18-hACE2 transgenic mice. These results support further examination A2AR agonists therapies for treating due COVID-19.
