ABSTRACT
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a set of endocrine disorder characterized by ovulation disorder. Increased insulin resistance (IR) and compensatory hyperinsulinemia play vital role in the pathogenesis PCOS. Therefore, sensitizing agents have been studied treatment Berberine (BBR) has proved to alleviate IR patients with PCOS, but mechanism remained unclear. This study was aimed verify regulatory BBR on PCOS-IR rats. Firstly, we established female rat model induced dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) found that estrus cycle disrupted group, serum fasting (FINS) level homeostasis assessment (HOMA-IR) index were significantly higher than normal control group. could recover estrous cycle, reduce abnormal hormone levels like luteotropic (LH) testosterone (T). Most importantly, concentration-dependently FINS model. Meanwhile, may improve lipid metabolism group decreasing low density lipoprotein (LDL), total cholesterol (TC) triglyceride (TG). Histological results showed can also protect histological structures ovaries Our indicated plays protective PCOS-IR, increasing sensitivity, improving hyperandrogens recovering blood lipids. research provides novel insights for therapeutic glucolipid metabolic disturbances.
