ABSTRACT
A 42 day factorial trial (3x2) was designed to evaluate the effect of short-term starvation with different feeding frequencies on performance, feed utilization, physiological status and appetite responses red hybrid tilapia fingerlings. Eighteen plastic tanks a capacity (55 L) were used accomplish this work. Fingerlings an average initial weight 23 g ± 0.2 (SE) randomly stocked at rate 8 fingerlings/aquarium. Six groups designated as following: II/ED: fish fed twice every day; IV/ED: four times II/EOD: other (alternate-day or one followed by another fasting); IV/EOD: II/EO3D: three days (three fasting) IV/EO3D: days. Fish commercial diets 30 % protein (4 biomass). Results showed insignificant differences between those in some growth indicators. In same trend, interaction deprivation frequency cleared that fingerlings IV/EOD did not significantly differ indices. Moreover treatment best conversion efficiency several
