ABSTRACT
Household energy consumption (HEC) is one of the major contributors to global emissions, making it a critical area for addressing sustainability challenges. The impact personality traits on human behaviour significant in shaping HEC patterns, and therefore, have important implications policies. This study aims investigate role biologically predicted big-two (i.e., stability plasticity), higher order solution five-factor orthogonal traits, HEC. To that end, structural equation model developed using national household survey Australia. performance benchmarked against agreeableness, consciousness, emotional stability, extraversion openness) trait model. models measured six goodness-of-fit indices, all which show superior results indicate score poses energy-intensive behaviour, while plasticity energy-saving behaviours. linked environmentally friendly behaviours, associated with unfavourable behavioural practices. effects socioeconomic status are mediated by identify those who more likely change their habits as target group policy intervention. can assist makers determine behaviours from develop effective targeted policies help reducing promote sustainable living societies.
