ABSTRACT
BackgroundThis study aimed to assess the diagnostic value of Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6), Surfactant protein-A (SP-A), SP-D and molecular matrixmetalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7) in discriminating patients with interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) from disease control subjects.MethodsSerum levels KL-6, SP-A, MMP-7 were measured both ILD non-ILD (NILD) groups. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was conducted evaluate potential these markers laboratory indices. High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) fibrosis scores determined, their correlation serum analyzed.ResultsSerum KL-6 significantly elevated group compared group, while no significant differences observed for SP-A SP-D. ROC demonstrated superior accuracy, a sensitivity 76.36%, specificity 91.07%, an area under (AUC) 0.902 (95%CI 0.866–0.945). These findings consistent across additional cohort. Correlation revealed link between at initial diagnosis HRCT scores, indicating severity. Moreover, negative found pulmonary function indices, reflecting progression. Patients increased 12-month score showed higher lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels, LDH exhibiting AUC 0.767 (95% CI: 0.520–0.927) as predictor progression.ConclusionsSerum detection proves be valuable tool accurately distinguishing ILDs subjects. While shows association its predictive prognosis is limited.Trial registrationThis received retrospective approval Ethical Committee Tongji Hospital, Medical College, Huazhong University Science Technology, Wuhan, China (institutional review board ID: TJ-IRB20210331, date: 2021.03.30).
