Subjective memory concerns and car collisions: A cross-sectional cohort study among older Japanese drivers

ABSTRACT
BackgroundA previous study suggested older drivers with subjective memory concerns (SMC) had increased odds of experiencing car collisions, but whether SMC in different contexts and the number applicable items change this association is unknown. The aim was to examine between collisions among Japan.MethodsThis cross-sectional conducted using data from a Japanese community-based cohort study. Participants were community-dwelling adults aged ≥60 years. assessed five questions: 1) "Do you feel have more problems than most?" 2) any difficulty your memory?" 3) forget where left things used to?" 4) names close friends or relatives?" 5) other people find forgetful?" asked about their experiences during two years.ResultsA total 13,137 (72.1 ± 5.5 years old, 43.6 % female) analyzed.
