ABSTRACT
The unplanned growth of urbanization in towns and cities has led to variations Land Surface Temperature (LST) as the green lands are converted into impervious structures without land cover management. In this study, an effort is made study transformational change natural area over years its impact on LST Ernakulum District Kerala, India. As per current statistics from one reports "Observed Rainfall Variability Changes Over Kerala State", by Indian Metrological Department January 2020 shows that there a significant decreasing trend rainy days many districts which resulted highest temperature records recent years. To understand trends district, Landsat data collected for four different 2005, 2010, 2015 maps Use Cover (LULC) pattern vegetation built-up areas. It important interpret LULC converting vegetative areas leads multiple reflecting surfaces trapping serves most direct way influence global warming. major merit research (i) temporal changes categorizing images covers, (ii) analyze Urban Thermal Field Variance Index (UTFVI) quantify urban heat island (UHI) effect region, (iii) assess analyzing spatio-temporal mean temperatures classes, (iv) wrt spectral index i.e., Normalized Differential Vegetation (NDVI) building Difference Building (NDBI) predict percentage successive using widely used regression model. computational simulation findings show vegetated decreases 47.91 % 29.04 analysis observed 2005 2.55 °C. For built up land, increased 6.50 15.27 year 2005-2020 4.82 °C rise temperature. overall accuracy achieved respective comes out be 93, 89, 90, 92 %. been analysis, period time b 3.45 This due use classes considerable can seen simulated results given area.
