ABSTRACT
From its beginnings in 1827, an important goal of medical education Egypt has been to qualify physicians who can provide high-quality health care services for their local community and other communities the Middle East region. To describe historical background, current status, future challenges Egypt, authors conducted extensive internet search, made electronic communications as well site visits gather relevant data. In final phase, organized interpreted data with emphasis on features curricula, practices quality, accreditation, encountered. The collected from 27 schools, all which are supervised by Egypt's Supreme Council Universities. findings showed that undergraduate programs (UGMEs) schools be broken down into three categories reflecting status reform: innovative, traditional, or transition. Areas reform have included main curriculum, teaching learning methods, assessment tools. Postgraduate studies medicine (PGSM) take place under two systems: academic system, offered universities, professional Fellowship Egyptian Board (FEB) program, Ministry Health. There many initiatives establish a national regulatory system continuing education, but none these is yet established. While UGME progressing, improvements still required both PGSM CME.
