ABSTRACT
The Neotropical brown stink bug, Euschistus heros, is a major pest of soybean in South America. importance E. heros as has grown significantly recent times due to increases its abundance and range, the evolution insecticide resistance. Recent work begun examine genetic diversity, population structure, mechanisms resistance heros. However, date, investigation these topics been hampered by lack genomic resources for this species. Here we address need assembling high-quality draft genome We used combination short long read sequencing assemble an 1.4 Gb comprising 906 contigs with contig N50 3.5 MB. leveraged new resource, genotyping sequencing, explore diversity populations species Brazil identify loci which are under selection. Our genome-wide analyses, confirm that there two co-occurring different geographical regions Brazil, that, certain country hybridizing. several selection, including markers associated putative genes. Taken together, generated study will accelerate research into fundamental aspects stinkbug biology applied relating sustainable control highly damaging crop pest.
