ABSTRACT
This retrospective study compares admissions and outcomes due to acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) during the COVID-19 pandemic from 25 March July 2020 with historical patient control who were admitted same period in 2019. Data of participating hospitals was collected analysed ICC NHFR (Indian College Cardiology National Heart Failure Registry) for 2019 2020. Total number ADHF admissions, demographics, aetiology, co-morbid conditions in-hospital mortality compared analysed. A significant decrease hospital (1056 vs. 526 respectively) noted. Incidence <40% ejection fraction (EF) reduced (72.4% 80.2% in2020 2019)and >40% increased (27.6% 19.8% respectively, p = 0.0005). Ischemic disease (IHD) most common aetiology (78.59% 80.98% 2020, 0.268). The numerically higher (10%) than (8%), but not statistically (p 0.161). registry shows that incidence lockdown significantly previous year. Demographic patterns remained similar patients presenting de-novo HF increased; IHD cause. lockdown. impact perhaps led fewer hospitalisations this is be factored future strategies address health care delivery such crises.
