ABSTRACT
The burden of atrial fibrillation (AF) is increasing worldwide. It often asymptomatic, with stroke being the first manifestation in some. AF community and practice prophylaxis has not been studied India. problem might be higher rural regions due to poor health awareness challenges healthcare access. This study aimed estimate prevalence AF, clinical profile risk India.This a community-based cross-sectional done Andhra Pradesh (AP). Adults from 40 villages formed population. We did door-to door survey collect information on demographics, medical history. Electrocardiogram was recorded using smart phone based Alivecor device. Participants diagnosed underwent echocardiogram. Study cardiologists assessed cardiovascular collected detailed history.Fourteen 4281 individuals screened had (0.3%). mean age sampled population 44 ± 16.5 years 56% women. participants 71 ±7.8 years; males were 71%. Except for one, all non-valvular AF. Majority CHA2D2S2Vasc score ≥2. Three history stroke. Two anticoagulant therapy but without INR monitoring.The lower this compared studies developed countries. Non-rheumatic factors primary causes Non-adherence major threat that needs addressed.
