Treadmill exercise ameliorates symptoms of methimazole‐induced hypothyroidism through enhancing neurogenesis and suppressing apoptosis in the hippocampus of rat pups

ABSTRACT
Abstract Thyroid hormones play a crucial role in new neuron production and maturation during brain development. Physical exercise is known to promote cell survival functional recovery after injuries. In the present study, we investigated effects of treadmill on short‐term memory, spatial learning ability, neurogenesis, apoptosis hypothyroidism rat pups. On 14th perinatal day, pregnant rats were divided into two groups: maternal control group methimazole (MMI)‐treated group. For induction pups, MMI was added drinking water (0.02%, wt/vol), from prenatal day 49th postnatal day. After delivery, male pups born assigned The MMI‐treated hypothyroidism‐induction groups forced run motorized for 30 min once starting 22nd 4 weeks. Induction fetal early period showed suppression neurogenesis enhancement hippocampus. Short‐term memory ability deteriorated Treadmill increased inhibited apoptosis, resulted improvement
