ABSTRACT
Biomimetic sulfur-deficient indium sulfide (In2.77S4) was synthesized by a template-assisted hydrothermal method using leaves of Mimosa pudica as template for the first time. The effect this in modifying morphology semiconductor particles determined physicochemical characterization, revealing an increase surface area, decrease microsphere size and pore volume density samples with template. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis showed presence organic sulfur (SO/SC/SH) oxide species (SO2, SO32−, SO42−) at also significant amounts Fe introduced contaminant present on leaves. these iron favors photocatalytic activity hydrogen production their acting sacrificial reagent promoting water oxidation templated particles, respectively. rates over optimally-prepared biomimetic without were 73 22 μmol g−1, respectively, indicating improvement factor three sample.
