ABSTRACT
Herein, a novel methodology to perform optimal sizing of AC-linked solar PV-PEM systems is proposed. The novelty this work the proposition plant electrolyzer capacity ratio (AC/AC ratio) as optimization variable. impact AC/AC on Levelized Cost Hydrogen (LCOH) and deviation DC/AC when optimized specifically for hydrogen production are quantified. Case studies covering Global Horizontal Irradiation (GHI) range 1400–2600 kWh/m2-year assessed. obtained LCOHs between 5.9 11.3 USD/kgH2 depending location. found strongly affect cost, LCOH optimality while varies up 54% minimize cost instead energy only. Larger oversizing required low GHI locations; however, H2 more sensitive ratios high locations.
