ABSTRACT
Background: Dientamoeba fragilis is a neglected intestinal protist associated with clinical outcomes in humans. There still an obscurity about its pathogenicity humans, including whether it can modulate immune responses, through which mechanisms initiates infection, or mostly silent resident of human gut. are many studies and case reports all indicate D. as the causative agent patients diarhhea, abdominal pain, meteorism urticaria. Yet, may have pathogenic subtypes and/or act pathogen under certain circumstances interaction host's system. It was initially identified by conventional methods. After PCR became available, surprisingly common regions where parasitosis uncommon, such Denmark Netherlands. Indeed, results controlled showed higher presence healthy controls compared to study groups, suggested that be natural gut, rather than being pathogen. Combining these data current debates influence gut microbiota on health, we aimed compare incidence cohort children allergic asthma this preliminary study. Methods & Materials: A total 50 who were diagnosed 46 age-matched enrolled Personal information collected from participants initially. The mean age asthmatic 5,67+ 2.1 5,43 + 3.2. Fresh stool samples collected, their DNA content isolated, Real-Time targeted ITS-1 region conducted. Results: assessments 26 (52.0%) 36 (78.3%) positive for fragilis. difference between groups significant (p=0.007; OR: 0,301). Conclusion: Our findings contribute recent found more controls. We now plan assess role modulation interactions larger scale.
