Risk factors associated with Helicobacter pylori infection in the urban population of China: A nationwide, multi-center, cross-sectional study

ABSTRACT
To assess the risk factors associated with H. pylori infection in urban Chinese population. The study was conducted from March to November 2023, including 12,902 participants aged 18-60 years across 52 cities distributed over 26 provinces China. Risk included socioeconomic status, lifestyles, and public understanding. Univariate multivariate logistic regression analysis used calculate corrected odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs). According regression, significantly higher rates residency developing (OR 1.27, CI 1.13-1.43) undeveloped 1.15, 1.02-1.29), obesity 1.37, 1.05-1.78), alcohol consumption 1.16, 1.05-1.29), tea 1.11, 1.01-1.21), soft drink 1.24, 1.09-1.40). Conversely, individuals moderate awareness 0.79, 0.71-0.88) high 0.57, 0.48-0.69) of had lower rates.
