ABSTRACT
The male breast cancer (MBC) is a rare and represents less than 1% of all malignancies in men only cancers incident. We illustrate the experience our team about clinico-pathological characteristics, treatment prognostic factors patients treated over period twenty years . Forty-seven were collected 1995–2014 at Breast Unit Hospital Terni, Italy. average age was 67 median time to diagnosis from onset symptoms 16 months. main clinical complaint sub areolar swelling 36, 76% cases. Most have come attention with advanced disease. histology ninety percent tumors invasive ductal carcinoma. Management consisted mainly radical mastectomy; followed by adjuvant radiotherapy hormonal therapy or without chemotherapy. follow-up 38 evolution has been characterized local recurrences; eight cases (17% patients). Metastasis occurred 15 (32% site bone metastases cases; lung four liver three skin one case pleura case. many similarities women, but there are distinct functions that need be appreciated. Future research for better understanding disease should provide account genetic epigenetic characteristics these forms; but, above all, epidemiological biological cohorts numerically more consistent.
