ABSTRACT
Gastroesophageal (GE) junction injuries are rare in the pediatric population. A complete GE separation a child secondary to trauma has not reported literature yet. 14-year-old boy presented with avulsion after near-drowning experience. He underwent immediate damage control surgery and delayed gastric pull-up esophageal reconstruction 3-months. At most recent clinic visit 5 months from reconstruction, he can tolerate regular diet without difficulty is gaining weight recovering well. Complete avulsions limited data guide management. These associated mortality rates 25% 33%, therefore, high index of suspicion, prompt recognition careful surgical planning needed for favorable outcomes.
