Case report of the duplex vermiform appendix: A rare presentation in an elderly patient

ABSTRACT
Duplex appendix is a rare anatomical entity with incidence rate of 0.004 and 0.009%. Diagnosis often missed despite growth in radiological investigations. Missed appendiceal anomalies can lead to undesirable medicolegal implications.Here we discuss case 76-year-old-male who initially presented his primary care physician right-sided abdominal pain for several weeks. A colonoscopy was performed demonstrated lesion arising from the appendicular orifice. The patient underwent staging imaging including Computerised Tomography abdomen pelvis which dilated appendix. laparoscopic right hemicolectomy. He made an uneventful recovery post-operatively at follow-up review 4 weeks 2 months.While duplex has been reported literature, our knowledge this first report describe duplicated presenting as colonic mass elderly patient.Intra-operative examination cecum paramount rule out prevent complications.
