The implementation and adoption of the Health Information System (HIS) in hospitals has increased worldwide recent years. HIS have various benefits, as they can streamline operations, increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, especially relation to management electronic health records. objective this study was investigate status information systems (HISs) Eastern province Saudi Arabia considering following categories structuring records: clinical documentation, results viewing, decision support, bar coding. To collect required a questionnaire developed sent by email departments 18 located urban areas region Arabia. outcome variable overall score each hospital. 67% were purchased, 28% in-house, 2% provided other sources. Most functionalities documentation viewing fully implemented majority hospitals. About half functions support category either or not implemented.
