ABSTRACT
Vigorous-intensity leisure-time physical activity, such as marathon, has become increasingly popular, but its effect on immune functions and health is poorly understood. Here, we performed scRNA-seq analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) after a bout symptom-limited cardiopulmonary exercise (CPX) test or marathon. Time-series single-cell revealed the detailed series landscapes in response to short long vigorous-intensity activities. Reduction effective T was observed with cell migration motility pathways enriched circulation following Baseline values PBMCs abundance were reached around 1 h CPX 24 longer time required for expression recovery cytotoxicity genes. The ratio effector/naive found change uniformly among participants could serve better indicator intensity than CD4+/CD8+ ratio. Moreover, identified time-dependent monocyte state transitions
