ABSTRACT
Studies assessing whether heart failure (HF) is associated with cancer and cancer-related mortality have yielded conflicting results. This study assessed incidence according to pre-existing HF in a community-based cohort.Among individuals ≥50 years of age from the Puglia region Italy administrative health data 2002 2018, no within 3 before baseline evaluation, ≥5-year follow-up, matched 104,020 subjects at control age, sex, drug-derived complexity index, Charlson comorbidity follow-up duration. Cancer were defined based on International Classification Diseases-Ninth Revision codes hospitalization records or death certificates. The rate patients was 21.36 (95% CI: 20.98-21.74) 12.42 12.14-12.72) per 1000 person-years, respectively, HR being 1.76 1.71-1.81). also higher than (HR: 4.11; 95% 3.86-4.38), especially those <70 7.54; 6.33-8.98 vs HR: 3.80; 3.44-4.19 for 70-79 age; 3.10; 2.81-3.43 ≥80 age). The association between confirmed competing risk analysis (subdistribution 3.48; 3.27-3.72). HF-related excess applied majority types. Among patients, prescription high-dose loop diuretic 1.11; 1.03-1.21) 1.35; 1.19-1.53).HF an increased mortality, which may be heightened decompensated states.
