ABSTRACT
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is the most common anxiety disorder. GAD has high comorbidities and it can affect social, professional personal life. Ayurvedic medicine, Brahmi vati explored for possible role in management of compared to Manasmitra vataka.To evaluate efficacy B. on Disorder.A randomized double blind controlled trial, with total 56 patients meeting DSM V criteria between 20-60 years age either sex participated study. Participants were randomly divided into two groups, group received capsule 500 mg M. vataka thrice a day water 45 days. Assessments conducted through various clinical parameters such as Hamilton Rating Scale (HARS), 7 scale (GAD 7), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Epworth sleepiness (ESS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), WHO Life- BREF (WHOQOL-BREF), Clinical Global Improvement (CGI). Blood variables including Haemoglobin, Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), Liver Function Test (LFT) serum creatinine assessed before after during intervention every 15th day.Study results indicate that both comparable each produced significant improvement (p < 0.001) HARS, GAD-7, BDI, ESS, PSQI, WHOQOL-BREF CGI. also decrease systolic = 0.002) diastolic blood pressure. Both groups showed good safety profile evaluated assessment levels LFT.B. effective, safe GAD. Warrants further studies.
