ABSTRACT
In July 2021, the European Union (EU) published a package of measures for decarbonization maritime transport: Market Based Measures (MBM) and Goal (GBM) that will gradually be phased in over 2023. This fragmentation transport governance leads to new working scenarios have given rise concern shipping industry. paper analyzes monetary consequences regulation on Short Sea Shipping (SSS) by introducing mathematical model meet this aim. From application SSS container vessel operating between Canary Islands Iberian Peninsula, it is found that, although MBM accurately reflect pollutant impact vessels aftermath 2020 Global Sulphur Cap, only GBM along with non-compliance deterrents can redirect vessels' investments towards more sustainable solutions medium-term.
