ABSTRACT
Abstract In this work, a leaf-like zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF-L(Co) coated stainless steel mesh (ZIF-L(Co)@SSM) is fabricated through a simple and facile one-pot method. The obtained ZIF-L(Co)@SSM shows superlyophobicity to nonpolar liquids under polar liquids. Taking advantage of the strong coordination interaction between the Co2+ and -SH group, the ZIF-L(Co)@SSM is easily modified by octadecanethiol, the resultant ZIF-L(Co)/Thiol@SSM displays a superlyophobic state for polar liquids under nonpolar liquids. Benefiting from their special superwettability, on-demand and highly effective multiphase organic liquids separation can achieve by the ZIF-L(Co)@SSM and ZIF-L(Co)/Thiol@SSM, with the separation efficiency above 96%. The simple preparation route and excellent performance make the MOFs coated meshes suitable in various organic liquid separation practices.
