ABSTRACT
Solids with potential application in tyrosol (Ty) removal by photo–Fenton processes have been synthesized using aluminum salt cake as a source. Two series of hydrocalumite layered double hydroxides (LDH) were synthesized: one containing structural Fe3+ (occupying octahedral positions the LDH) and another surface impregnated Fe3+; all solids calcined air at 750 ºC. The characterized powder X–ray diffraction, FT–infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms –196 °C, particle size distribution electron microscopy. One main differences between two was that impregnation incipient wetness method subsequent calcination °C did not lead to formation CaAlFe mixed oxides. evaluated photocatalysts process for Ty (a typical compound found olive oil mill wastewater), samples showing better results. solid prepared 20% iron subsequently 750ºC, under optimum reaction conditions (catalyst dose = 0.5 g/L, [H2O2] 0.468 g/L [Ty]0 100 mg/L, presence UV light), reached complete contaminant mineralization 95% after only 60 min reaction. cyclic study showed this sample maintained its stability 3 cycles reuse without leaching, performance than other materials reported literature.
