ABSTRACT
We evaluated the effect of Bifidobacterium lomgum BB536 (B. longum BB536) on subjective symptoms physical condition healthy adults in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial. Two hundred participants were recruited and randomized into two groups (BB536 group: n = 100; placebo 100) based frequency with which they experienced cold during three years prior to study. The consumed either powder containing 1 × 1010 colony forming units (CFU) B. or once daily for 12 weeks, their health status was recorded diary. Participants who had significantly lower incidence feverishness, systemic symptom, than group. Our results indicate that intake may contribute maintaining adults, suggesting be promising probiotic reducing occurrence common cold-like symptoms.
