ABSTRACT
Although incidence rates of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) began to decline in the United States past decade, disparities among racial/ethnic groups have persisted. Whether stage at diagnosis remained over time, however, is unclear.National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program has created a new staging-over-time variable that facilitates examination trends HCC stage. Thus, proportions HCCs diagnosed by between 1992 2019 were examined non-Hispanic White, Black (NHB), Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) individuals. was also analysed using Joinpoint regression.Between 2019, proportion 1 increased 4 decreased NHB, Islander Among AI/AN persons, tumours stable, declined. In most recent time period, NHB individuals had lowest (32%) highest (20%) any group. analysis found 2013 all except individuals, only group an increase incidence.Despite generally favourable rates, remain. persons continue less stages diagnosis, persons.HCC years, but whether improved unclear. As result, SEER used examine race/ethnicity. finding as well encouraging, continuity both require serious attention.
