ABSTRACT
Abstract A dextran-coated, magnetite-based magnetic fluid sample (DexMF) was tested through morphological analysis of mice organs. Clusters of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were observed in liver and spleen tissues from 1 h up to 6 months after DexMF administration. In spite of long-term retention of MNPs, no morphological alterations, including damaged cells, were observed in the analyzed organs. The data suggest that DexMF sample is biocompatible and adequate for further biomedical tests.
