ABSTRACT
The in-situ formed MgAl2O4–CaAl12O19 (MA–CA6) composites were fabricated in this study. To clarify the influence of evolution CA6 phase on properties MA–CA6 composites, sintering temperature was carried out at 1200–1700 °C for 2 h. results show that growth and development grains improves densification flexural strength composites. formation MA occurs 1200 °C, while is by reaction CaAl4O7 (CA2) Al2O3 appears 1400 °C. plate-like intersect with each other, presenting regular hexagonal morphology a high aspect ratio 1500 CaO–Al2O3–SiO2 acts as an interface to regulate grains. crystallized from transient liquid significantly increase its thickness 1600 At same time, rises, apparent porosity sample decreases 24% 4% correspondingly increases 96.6 MPa 167 MPa. However, suitable should not exceed better
